In the latest release notes, I saw that Qemu can now run OS X!
dmesg
In this video I'll install Mac OS X Server 1.2, code named Rhapsody 5.6, onto a Power Macintosh G3 old world ROM system. This operating system is the PowerPC port of OPENSTEP and was released. Installation notes: This version of Mac OS X is for PowerPC. X86 emulators like VirtualBox, VMWare or Virtual PC will not work. These releases will only run on specific models of PPC Apple Macintosh computers. QEMU (PPC) is known to run Mac OS X Server 1.0. Of memory, Mac OS X Server is the ideal platform for the most demanding scientific and technical computing needs. While Mac OS X Server and the PowerPC G5 are the perfect platform for next- generation networking applications and services, they also run today’s 32-bit applications natively.
The installer for 10.4 will run, but it’ll then freak out saying that this model of mac is not supported. The ‘working’ cli I’m using is:
ppc-softmmu/qemu-system-ppc -L pc-bios/ -m 256 -M g3beige -hda osx1046.vmdk -cpu G3 -cdrom Mac OS X Install DVD.toast -boot d
Sure the colours are off, and it is kind of pokey, but still the more guest OS’s on Qemu, namely for something like the PowerPC. If anyone has any better idea of how to fully run OS X on Qemu drop me a note! Plus there is additional information on the mailing list.
